Children's Ministry Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church Rome, Georgia Welcome to the home of Pleasant Valley North’s Children’s Ministry. In the Kids Zone, children are taught to love Jesus through four major areas. These are evangelism, discipleship, missional mindset, and fellowship. It is important that each child grow and leave the Children’s Ministry having developed a relationship with Christ while learning to serve others. The biblical theme for the ministry is: This mission is fulfilled through the programs listed below that promote engagement, biblical teaching, and fun. For more info on each sub-ministry. Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 AWANA This wonderful ministry for children age 3 through 6th grade is really growing. The children learn Bible verses each week while enjoying games and fellowship. It provides a solid foundation for moral and spiritual development. Our AWANA program meets on Wednesday nights from 6:15 - 7:30 pm through the academic year. The first Wednesday night of each month is a special event night. Children will have the opportunity to dress or participate in a theme such as pajama or crazy hair night. Children are awarded points each week for bringing their Bible, handbook, and completing sections in their books. These points are redeemed twice a year in the AWANA stores for toys and prizes. This ministry's goal is to promote scriptural understanding and God's truths through an environment that is relaxed and fun. While nearly 2/3 of the night is spent in Bible learning and study, children have the opportunity to experience recreation and fellowship. AWANA is divided into "clubs" based on age and/or grade: CUBBIES - 3 year olds - PreK SPAKRS - Kindergarten - 2nd Grade T&T - 3rd-4th Grade T&T Preteen - 5th-6th Grade Additionally, a leadership program is available for those in 7th-12th grades who have a leadership gift set, enjoy guiding younger kids in AWANA, and work through an independent curriculum of daily devotions and verse memorization. We invite your child to become an AWANA clubber. Registration is open year-round. Clubbers may sign up at the beginning of each night, or parents may visit the church office during normal business hours Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Below are resources that help plan your child's visit to AWANA: 2023-2024 AWANA Nightly & Yearly Schedules 2023-2024 TNT Handbook Weekly Schedule Children's Church Just before the sermon on Sunday mornings, children are invited to Children's Church. Dedicated adult and youth teachers lead this special time of worship for children. In Children's Church, kids learn biblical truths through lessons, games, arts and crafts, and technology. For both services, one group is offered for 4-year-olds to 3rd graders. About Our Ministries Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church Rome, Georgia Our Purpose Our primary mission is to impact those outside the church walls. People need to be connected into meaningful relationships where they can be cared for, loved, accepted, and challenged. We want to engage people with God’s love and grow into a family of mature followers of Jesus Christ. PVN's Student Team Ryan Matherly Youth & College Pastor Ryan is the Pastor of Youth & College at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church. He was born in Calhoun, Georgia, and attended Georgia Southern University, where he graduated in 2012 with a B.A. in Communication Arts. Ryan became a Christian in early 2013 and worked as Communications Coordinator for Ronald Blue & Co., a Christian financial planning firm in Roswell, Georgia. In early 2014, Ryan felt he was being called into ministry. He moved to Rome, where he began working part-time with youth and college students at PVN. In August 2015, Ryan began pursuing a Master of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary. In April 2017, he accepted the call as Pastor to Youth and College. With a passion for students, Ryan works to thread the Gospel into every piece of a teenager’s experience at PVN so that the Kingdom can grow in the Middle School, High School, and Collegiate communities. He and his wife Kristen have been married since March 2018. Eric Hall Children’s Pastor Eric is a native of Rome, GA, and a 1992 graduate of Armuchee High School. After graduation, he pursued a ten year career in his family’s business before returning to college and completing a Bachelor of Information Technology degree from Southern Polytechnic State University in 2005. He was hired three weeks after graduation by Shorter University in Rome to maintain its website. Eventually, he was promoted to Systems Administrator. It was during his tenure at Shorter that Eric felt God’s call to the ministry. Even though he felt that calling earlier in life, it was while assisting and working alongside employees at Shorter that he strongly sensed God’s plan for Christian ministry. In November 2010, he surrendered his life to serving God’s kingdom. Since 2011, God has graciously provided Eric an opportunity to serve as Children’s Minister, where he is enjoying the role of ministering to children and promoting the name of Christ. Eric is married to Tracie Snow Hall and considers her the biggest blessing in his life. She motivates him each day through prayer and support. They have two daughters, Reagan and Kenzie. Bryon Schirner Youth & College Intern Bryon was born in Orlando, Florida, grew up in Canton, Georgia. In July 2014, he surrendered his life to living in a relationship with Jesus. He felt called to be a shepherd in his senior year of high school at Creekview High School and since has desired to pursue this calling further. Bryon attended Berry College, where he graduated in May 2021 with a B.A in Psychology and Religion with a Concentration in Biblical and Christian Studies. He began attending and working as an intern at PVN in March 2021! Since graduating, Bryon has also been working for the WinShape College Program as an Associate of 1st and 2nd Year Students. He has started seminary at Mercer University in May 2021, and is pursuing a Master of Divinity. Bryon married his wife, Haley, on June 18,2022! Abigail Mohler Children’s Ministry Intern Abigail was born in Budapest, Hungary, and has lived in Bucharest, Romania, Easley, South Carolina, Kansas City, Missouri, and Flowery Branch, Georgia. She accepted Jesus when she was 8 years old but really began to dive into her Faith walk at the age of 15. As a freshman in college, she felt God was calling her to ministry, whether in a summer camp setting or working as an intern with the children’s ministry. She is currently a junior at Berry College studying Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. She began working as an intern at PVN in March 2021.
